3. A Beach Walk Up to Hollywell: Walk along the promenade, passing the Eastbourne Bandstand. Often used for live music in the summer, it's an architectural gem and a great photo spot.
4. Lunch by the Sea: Enjoy lunch at a seafront spot or try one of the many restaurants to enjoy fresh seafood and a view of the water.
Early Afternoon:
5. Visit the Towner Gallery: Head back to the nearby Towner Gallery for a good look around. It’s the free-entry contemporary art museum known for bold exhibitions and its colourful exterior. A great cultural stop!
6. Step into the Eastbourne Redoubt Fortress & Military Museum: Spend time exploring this historic military site. Inside, you’ll find exhibitions showcasing the town’s military history, as well as displays on Eastbourne’s role during both World Wars. It’s a fascinating visit for anyone with an interest in military history.
Late Afternoon:
7. Shop in the Centre of Town Area: Spend the late afternoon browsing the shops at Eastbourne’s premier shopping destination. With a mix of high street brands, independent boutiques, and cafes, it’s the perfect place to indulge in some retail therapy or pick up a few souvenirs. Take your time exploring the various stores and enjoy a coffee break at one of the cafes.
Evening:
8. Dinner at one of the many restaurants and pubs: For dinner, head to your choice of the historic pubs with their warm and welcoming atmosphere. Choose from menus of classic British dishes, seasonal specialties, and an impressive selection of local ales and wines.
9. Enjoy a Show at one of the local theatres or at The Bandstand: End your day with some entertainment at the theatre. Choose from Devonshire Park, The Congress Theatre, the Winter Gardens and the Royal Hippodrome – plus others!
